Pentel PD345 0.5 mm
The Pentel PD-345 has been around since the 1980s and, like the P200 Series, has changed throughout its years of production. A feature that the PD345 is widely known for is its side click lead advance, which, in theory, is meant to be more convenient for users. Starting off, the PD345 has something unusual (not really, I just want to point it out), a metal clutch. As one may predict, the ten-click test shows 6 mm of lead produced, well within the threshold for precision. Solidity is nothing different. As for features, aside from the side click mechanism, there are three other features: the clip, the cap (see under $5 rule), and the rubber grip. The clip is metal, giving a more hefty feel to the pencil. The cap is, again good to protect the eraser from graphite markings. The rubber grip is a controversial one for me, mainly due to the changes from the 1980s model. An older person would suggest that the rubber grip hinders the comfort due to either the weight or the grip. Obviously, that is not me. I actually prefer the grip, given that my hands constantly slip from time to time, and this is (to my surprise) one of the best grips I've used that is not knurled. As for the construction, it's Pentel standard (for anyone who does not know, that means good). Now, let me shut up for a second.

Would I recommend this? In this case, yes. Probably the best side click mechanism we would have for a long time.
