rOtring 500 0,35 mm (0.3 mm Japan)

The rOtring 500 is considered the midrange rOtring for anyone looking for a drafting pencil from rOtring (not including any variation of the 800 nor the Rapid Pro. Anyways, knowing that, the clutch on the 500 is more robust than the 300, but all other aspects are the same: metal clutch, 5 mm ten click, and solid sound and feel. Again, I have to list all features which are the lead indicator, the hexagonal upper barrel, the metal clip, and the knurled grip. Unlike with the 300, the problems with the features are fixed with the 500 (along with the 600, but that's not for this review). The lead indicator, unlike the 300, requires a lot of friction to rotate it, giving the durability factor. The clip is improved as well, since it's a brass clip instead of a stainless steel clip. The hexagonal upper barrel is good as well and the knurling is good. Not Draftmatic good, but good overall. There is more metal with the grip area and the lead indicator (along with the cap, but that does not matter here). As for the points, well...

Would I recommend this? Yes, more than the 600 (price mainly) but not by much. Either way, this is a great pencil to use regardless of the person you are.

Does this go on my personal list? No, despite the high score. Go back to about to see why.
