Mitsubishi Uni Kuru Toga Standard 0.3 mm

Just a clarification: This is not the version one may find in the US. This is not the Uni-Ball version. If you order online, avoid that version as possible.

As for this version, another tangent on sharpening as a whole. Throughout the time before this pencil was ever made, a problem seemed to plague every wooden and mechanical pencil: resharpening the tip. Wooden pencils had a constant need of a good sharpener while mechanical pencils, despite having finer tips, had people constantly rotating the barrel of the pencil, wasting time. The Kuru Toga was specifically made to fix that issue. Does it work though?

Now, starting with the technical aspects, the Kuru Toga appears to have a brass clutch with a ten click test of 5 mm. It has a solid clutch with no issues whatsoever. Features, however, is another story. There are mainly 4 features: a lead cushion system, the auto-rotation mechanism, a curved grip, and a plastic clip. The clip is plastic, but is better than the worst clip (see Paper Mate), the grip is okay, but the lead cushioning mechanism and the auto-rotation mechanism are great. Now, the auto-rotation mechanism is the main feature that stands out, as with the lead cushion, the engine rotates the lead 4 degrees each time one presses and releases on the tip, making the lead rotate evenly. It has worked since I always get a sharp tip every time, but I will give less bonus points because I am waiting for the Kuru Toga Advance to be available in 0.3 mm. The pencil has a good construction though. Points now! YAY!

Would I recommend this: I would rather wait for the Advance than take this version if you want one of these.

Is this on my list: No.
