Uni Shift Pipe Lock 0.3 mm

Okay, another retractable tip! Oh, you have no idea. Starting off, the clutch is drafting pencil standard. The clutch feels solid overall with a 10 click test of 5 mm (cannot take it apart) and a solid sound. As for the features, there are three main features to pay attention to: the retractable tip, the knurled grip, and a plastic clip. The retractable tip is solid but it stands out for two reasons. The first one is that the mechanism is done without doing too much friction to the pencil as a whole, causing a lesser chance of breaking the mechanism. The second one is not as obvious, since with every other retractable tip I have (not counting the Orenz) allows the clutch to be open, potentially causing lead to leak out. Normally, this would be a big issue with me for other pencils, but it has no real evidence of that ever happening. The Uni Shift Pipe Lock's retraction mechanism keeps the clutch locked to the lead, keeping the lead secure and not risking it falling out. The knurled grip is less hard than the rOtring style, but is still decent for a compromised grip. Nothing bad, just not special (see Draft/matic). The plastic clip does not impress me though, since it feels worse than a Paper Mate Sharpwriter (it's that bad). As for construction, this is brutally front weighted, which is really good for me. The upper barrel compensates for it though, since it feels cheap. As for points...

Would I recommend this? For a nice look at the world of retractable tip mechanical pencils, yes.

Is this on my personal list? Nope. :P
